Sunnyside, sits high on a hill , commanding impressive views across Macclesfield and Cheshire. Orginally, an early 20th Century timber framed bungalow, it had been extended haphazardly and had a number of problematic junctions of roofs and materials.

Our approach involved stripping the fabric right back to the bone, adding a storey to the northern part of the dwelling and retrofitting the whole structure with external insulation and cladding. The heart of the dwelling is the repurposed living, kitchen and dining a space which has retained its timber structure and vaulted interior ceiling.

The whole building benefits from high levels of fabric insulation, a Mechanical Ventilation and Heat Recovery (MVHR) to create and comfortable low energy dwelling.
